2012 Microchip Technical Seminar

A bit late, but is never too late ๐Ÿ™‚

Is wonderful for us to attend Microchip Technical Seminar (previously is called Microchip Embedded Designer Fourm, EDF). This year, they have a section at Penang, is near to my office, so I attend it.

Microchip FAEs Before Seminar start, discussion with participants

As Authorized 3rd party training center, Cytron Technologies always support this seminar because our staff can have the latest update and news on Microchip product and development tools. Besides, as design house, we need to know the latest technology and product from Microchip and try to apply in our product. Hey, you get yourself a choice to get development with discounted price up to 50% discount. We get an ICD3 Evaluation Kit and One PIC Microcontroller Platform Dev Board.

Well, this is special development board, you can only get it from this seminar, not for sales ๐Ÿ™‚ There are 3 PIC microcontroller on it. PIC16LF1939, PIC24FJ256GA106 and PIC32MX795F512L, all on 1 board, you have the option to choose which PIC to use via jumpers. Great platform to evaluate 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit PIC Microcontroller. Oh, it come with PICkit 3 too ๐Ÿ™‚

This is the One PIC MCU development board demo using WiFi module.

So what is the update and news? Besides sharing the concept of using Zigbee for wireless remote control, extreme low power for battery powered devices, adding features such as capacitive and resistive touch, improve user emotional feeling with graphic displayโ€ฆโ€ฆ which is a lot a lot for me to list all down ๐Ÿ™‚ But I like the MPLAB X IDE. Finally they released the V1.0 which you can download it here. I have yet to try out this claimed to be more user friendly and powerful IDE, I am looking forward to have my 1st try. Here, I found an introduction video about MPLAB X IDE

So, I will stop here as I want to try out the MPLAB X ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Any idea where the sample code provided on the seminar DVD can be downloaded. Some of the files in the source folder is not readable on my DVD.
