Introduction

RF-TX-315 & RF-RX-315

RF Modules are used wireless transfer data and low cost application . This makes them suitable for remote control applications, as in where you need to control some machines or robots without getting in touch with them (may be due to various reasons like safety, etc). Now depending upon the type of application, the RF module is chosen. For short range wireless control applications, an RF Transmitter-Receiver Module of frequency 315 MHz is the most suitable type. This RF modules are works with PT2262(encoder) and PT2272(decoder) as remote control.

  • Range in open space(Standard Conditions) : 100 Meters
PT2262
Is a remote control encoder paired with PT2272 utilizing CMOS Technology. It encodes data and address pins into a serial coded waveform suitable for or IR modulation. PT2262 has a maximum of 12 bits of tri-state address pins providing to 531,441 (or 312) address codes; thereby, drastically reducing any code collision and unauthorized code scanning possibilities.
 
PT2272
Remote Control Decoder PT2272 is a remote control decoder paired with PT2262 utilizing CMOS Technology. It has 12 bits of tri-state address pins providing a maximum of 531,441 (or 312) address codes; thereby, drastically reducing any code collision and unauthorized code scanning possibilities. This IC has Latch or Momentary output type.

In this tutorial, you will going to learn on how to use the RF-TX-315 and RF-RX-315 as remote controller to switch on and off the fluorescent lamps by using PT2262 and PT2272 ICs.

Due to the usage of PT2262 and PT2272 ICs, the MCU was not need in this case as to work with the RF modules. The video on how the RF modules functioning was shared at the end of this tutorial.

Procedures

1. First of all, please refer to the PT2262 data sheet and PT2272 data sheet for more descriptions about the ICs.

2. Next, cut the 1×10 ways of female header into 1×3 ways and 1×4 ways respectively.

3. Soldered the components onto the donut board.

4. The following are the schematics and the sample circuit connections provided

**Note:
Due to the IC PT-2272-M4 is momentary type, it will only received data when the address bits of the IC was matching with the PT2262. If the address bits was not match(the data will only be received by PT2272 if the button was being pressed and did not released at the transmitter board), this IC will remain in stand by mode. The IC operations was shown by the flow chart at the below.

**Hence JK flip flops were introduced as to retain the output state of the data received even though the address bits of the PT2272 did not match with the PT2262’s  address bits. The JK flip flops(IC 74HC107) were used in here as to test the previous state of the Led, where the Led used to represent the fluorescent lamp.

*Based on  the schematic provided, the output Q was feedback to input,K while the data of the PT-2272-M4 was directly connected to the another input, J and the clock of the JK flip flop. As the button on RF-TX-315 board being pressed, the data pin of PT2272 will received 1. Hence it will activated the JK flip flop and set the output, Q as 1 (J = 1 & K = 0). The corresponding Led will light up and switch on the relay.

*If the same button was being pressed again, the input J and K will compared with each other and toggle the output(J = 1 & K =1). Now the output was becoming 0. The Led and the relay will be switch off.

5. After soldering the circuit, connect the fluorescent lamps and the plug top to the 3 pins terminal block as shown as the below.
   CAUTION: PLEASE BE CAREFUL AS YOU ARE DUELING WITH AC VOLTAGE

6. Plug in the 12V adaptor to the transmitter(RF-TX-315)board and the receiver(RF-RX-315)board respectively.

7. Press the push button on the RF-TX-315 board and observed the result obtained. In this tutorial, only 2 fluorescent lamps were using. Basically the same steps for operating 4 lamps.

    is the encoded message signal is crypted?
    How abt security in this encoder?
    does a TX from one pair of TX and RX can interfere or control an RX of another pair of TX and RX of same PT2272IC ?

    Sorry its a bit late to now asking, anyway i’m simply looking fot your kind assistance.

    I have 8 ch remote using pt2262 and pt2272m receiver respectively. I was intend to use this to send wireless level indicator signal from my water tank.
    This is the reason I would think the momentary receiver type will be appropriate to be connected (each) to float switch, so that I would expect to have 8 level reading from the tank wirelessly.
    However, I have an issue to transmit more than 1 ch signal as the rest of 7 ch signals cannot be simultaneously transmitted while the first 1 ch signal is activated (switched “on”).

    Can somebody advise me to resolve this?
