Together, Cytron and Atilze Enabling IoT

Cytron has today inked a collaboration Agreement with Atilze Digital Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of G3 Global Berhad (formerly known as Yen Global Berhad), to provide enterprises, businesses, Maker Community, students, IoT developers and hobbyist with the essential Internet of Things (IoT) building blocks that includes the Atilze LoRa shield together with the easy-to-use Atilze Fabrick IoT application software platform to develop their IoT applications.

The signing ceremony was held on 23rd May 2017 at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (“MCMC”), Kuala Lumpur, in conjunction with the Digital Lifestyle – IoT Transforming Businesses event hosted by MCMC. The agreement was signed by Mr. Gerard Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Atilze, and Ober Choo, Technical Director for Cytron. Dato’ Lai Yit Loong, Chairman of the Malaysia IoT Consortium was also present during the signing event.

The strategic collaboration between Atilze and Cytron has resulted in the birth of the Atilze LoRa shield for Arduino: Designed, engineered, and developed jointly by the two parties. The Atilze LoRa shield can access the Klang Valley LoRa network and the Atilze Fabrick IoT software platform. Alongside the deployment of the Atilze LoRa Shield, Atlize will provide free six months of access to the Atilze Fabrick Platform and the Atlize Developers Kit, an easy-to-use toolset for developers to build their IoT applications on. The potential IoT applications include smart cities, smart agriculture, smart buildings, smart industries, smart logistics, smart homes, and many others.

New IoT applications developed with the Atilze LoRa shield can be immediately deployed on the LoRa network that spans Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Puchong, Subang, Shah Alam, Klang, Port Klang, and Cyberjaya. Additionally, there are also discussions to expand the LoRa system into other states across Malaysia. This LoRa shield will soon be available on Cytron’s online marketplace in mid of July 2017.

Apart from Malaysia, these IoT applications built on the Atilze LoRa shield can also be deployed on LoRa networks that Atilze is building out in other parts of Southeast Asia, with Indonesia being the next market opportunity.

We always believe that young makers and students are the future in innovating new solutions for smart cities. They are the key element which we need to nurture, empower and facilitate.” says Ober.

“Moving forward, we will be launching the IoT marketplace under the initiative of Malaysia IoT Consortium with the objective to fill up the gap of the IoT ecosystem in our region,” added Ober.

This collaboration is initiated to introduce and promote LoRa in Malaysia. The Developer Kit and training will be provided to students, the maker community, and all IoT developers to have a better understanding of LoRa and first-hand experience with the IoT applications. It includes the Atilze LoRa shield and a set of sensors in a toolbox that enables a range of innovative applications to be built within IoT. It is user-friendly, and affordable and lowers the threshold for anyone wanting to explore the benefits of IoT and kickstart their development.

A series of workshops and training seminars will be conducted with MCMC throughout this year starting from July 2017.
